Houston Tea Store - Jungle Cafe Review

I alway go to jungle cafe to buy cakes. the employees that work over there it's really rude and with bad mood. one day i order a cake that is over $15 and then they told me that is you got the second one is going to be half price then i told them that no i don't want the second one and then seems like they are forcing me to buy it. at the end i said no. so when i am going to pay the cake i gave them my debit card cause i never carry cash out then they told me that i have to have minimum $20 to charge on my debit card. so i was so mad i just get the second cake and then i left there so unhappy. i think i will never ever go back to jungle cafe... Sang Dong Houston Review

My first review here on the board so here it goes...I went to place because a friend of mine said it was the best noodle/dumpling place in Chinatown. I have to agree the wonton noodle soup I ordered was very good. But here is the bad: the service is terrible and the wait is horrendous. I waited 20 minutes for a table to open up and they messed up my order after waiting another 20 minutes for the food to come. So about an hour passed before I began to eat. If you like to wait, this is the place to go. Otherwise, there are other good noodle / dumpling restaurants in Chinatown.

Chinese Food Articles

Legend has it that century eggs are made by soaking duck eggs in horse urine! The truth is that the eggs are preserved in a mixture of clay, ash, salt, lime and rice straw for several weeks to months. When cooked, the egg white has a gelatinous texture, looks dark brown and transparent, while the egg yolk is creamy and looks grayish-green. Century eggs have a pungent smell and are typically eaten with preserved ginger. For more articles visit:

Canton Seafood Restaurant Review in Houston

The best place to have oysters in Houston. these guys prepare them steamed with green onions and leek, and its stellar. so simple, but excellent. 2 dollars a shot, but worth it. Good seafood dishes, but rather expensive for most chinese restaurants. Requires careful ordering, or you might get something that is droll and uninstersting, making you wonder why I recommend this place so highly. Meat dishes here are not bad, but very plain - order nothing but seafood, especially scallops and steamed fish. Visit Houston Chinese Restaurants Guide for more reviews.

New Asian Cafe in Houston Heights

On my usual route homeward I take a right from Shepherd onto 11th and for a while I've been growing serious curiousity about a new tenant in the shopping center on the corner there. I just happened to stop this time to find out when they would be opening. "6:30", said one of the contractors who was putting finishing touches on. So I tool around for awhile and come back later. I was their first customer. "Wow....that's cool", I thought to myself. It wouldn't be enough to simply write about the food (I ordered the General's chicken and some dragon rolls...they ROCK!!). After just chlling for a little while talking to the other customers, I got the impression that the owner really enjoys connecting with the people that come in. The kitchen is an open style kitchen right next to the cashier, this is how Ken (the owner) cooks and conversates! The rest of the staff is equally as hospitable. What's also good is that it is a relatively small place. I imagine this place getting very popular very fast. The staff is good, the atmosphere is social, oh yeah, and like I said, the food rocks. The chicken I had was good and spicy and the dragon rolls were cooked just light enough to make me forget they were fried.

Chinese restaurant review

This is one of the newest drink and ice store in Houston Chinatown to open, and it definitely came at the right time during The hot 100 degreeish Houston weather.I like juice box’s fresh squeeze juice and their famous shredded ice. Juice box offers a variety of juices and that includes fresh squeezed orange, mango, apple and other drinks. Juice box offer one of the biggest size shredded ice I have ever seen in Houston, and they also gave you real big chunk of sliced fruit, such as mango or strawberry, (like the famous Taiwanese Mango shredded ice.) On top of that, they even give you a scoop of mango ice cream to enrich the flavor. I also like their Calpis (if you don’t know what this is look up our Japanese culture section). It is mixed with apple juice and you should try it out. price is average but the mango shredded ice is really worth a try. Visit Chinese restaurant in Houston for more reviews.

Tea Cafe Chinese Restaurant in Houston

I decided to go eat at Tea Cafe this past weekend because I saw their review on http://www.chinatownconnection.com/restaurant.htm. After reading their review and people's comments, I decided to give this place a try. Boy was I pleased that I did. The atmosphere was awesome. Their interior deco is very good especially in the Houston Chinatown area. I say that because there is this misconception about Chinese restaurants being dirty and ugly. Not this place though. They also offered free wireless internet which is a big plus for me since I have a "mobile office".

I ordered a Bubble Tea and a crispy chicken snack. They give the largest bubble tea drink in the entire Asian Community.

Houston Chinese Restaurant Review and Guide: Noodle House

I ate at Noodle House for dinner in Houston Chinatown . They have a very good sizzling iron plate served with chicken and noodles. I also love their beef noodle soup. Price is very inexpensive and the atmosphere is great. They are located in Diho Square . I give this place two thumbs up.

Houston Chinese Restaurants Problems

I wanted to order something to go at San Dong Noodle but I am at work and do not have access to their to go menu. Unlike the restaurants found on this website, Houston Asian Restaurants Guide , San Dong does not have any online presence (ie menu, and stuff) and I question myself why? I hear good things about this place so naturally I want to order from them but I do not know their food and prices. Why can't they put some money into a online page with menus like the restaurants listed here? If they are as good as people say, they should spend more time satisfying customer needs. Seriously, what day and age are we in now? A Houston Chinese Restaurant without a website is called ancient and not complete. Just my 2 cents.

Houston Chinese Restaurant Review: Hunan Plus

Hunan Plus Chinese Restaurant Review

This place is the equivalent of a Tony Jaa movie. You get EVERY thing that is awesome (great prices, great food)along with a lot of unneccessary perks such as soup and free iced tea.
I've been going for about a year and a half. Surely you must think I've turned into a fat lard by eating this food. No, I've actually lost weight. It is crazy. This place is soo good and scrumpious that makes me want to gift wrap a box of kittens and put a nice bowtie on top then proceed to hug said box of kittens. It's great! Definitely recommended for cheapos like me who see no point in paying too much for too little. It should be the other way around. Paying too little for too much. After all, isn't that what America is about?

Houston Chinese Restaurant Review

Lai Lai Chinese Restaurant -Review by Jane

My first taste at Lai Lai was about 2 weeks after it opened in 1983 for my 32nd birthday. I still highly recommend it. It has always been an inexpensive yet bountiful place with lots of atmosphere. Try the "Chinese Broccoli with oyster sauce" with the pork dumplings. To die for. Best of Houston Chinatown rating: 5.

Houston Chinese Restaurant

Houston Chinese Restaurants Review : Noodle House

Noodle House, located in the heart of Houston Chinatown, opened last year. They serve only Taiwanese food. They have favorites like black pepper steak on sizzling iron plate, beef noodle soup, and other famous Taiwanese dishes. The store is very nice and soothing. They have lunch specials for under $4 as well.

Yellow River Chinese Restaurant in Houston, Texas

Today I visited Yellow River Chinese restaurant in Houston. They are located in Dynasty Shopping center in Houston Chinatown. This place is like an American Luby's Cafeteria. You go in and stand in line to order the food you want to eat. They have about 20+ different entrees to choose from. You get an order of rice and 4 different entrees. I had Chinese cooked eggs, stir fried green beans , tofu, and roasted beef. The portions are enough to fill a grown man and it only costs $3.25. Add on a milk tea for only $1 and you have a full lunch with drink for less than five bucks. Add this to your cheap lunch in Houston list.

Kim Son Restaurant in Houston

Kim Son Restaurant Review

2001 Jefferson St

Houston, TX 77003

The Kim Son on Jefferson is probably the best one in Houston. Food doesn't take too long to be served, service is good, and seating doesn't take long either. The other locations are sub-par. I think that this restraunt is underestimated. Many people say that its too "Americanized" but I think its just right. If you go to the average vietnamese restraunt, the food is mediocre and so is the service. Here however, the food is quite delicious, nicely and beautifully prepared, and tastes fresh. You just have to know which dishes are good.

Fu's Garden Chinese Restaurant

Fu's Garden Chinese Restaurant in Houston, Texas

Fu's Garden is to Chinese food what Taco Cabanna is to Mexican food: Tex-Chin. The dishes range from edible to good - but I would hardly call this Chinese food. To give credit where credit is due, this is definitely a step up from Chinese buffet, but I think that most of the people who gave this chain restaurant high ratings have never had authentic, freshly prepared Chinese food. This is really too bad, because if Houstonians demanded it, we would have more authentic restaurant choices. Unfortunately, as long as the market continues to demand it, we will continue to get "La Choy" style food.

Sichuan Cuisine in Houston, Texas

-review by Douglas
I highly recommend Sichuan Cuisine . It is one of the best Chinese restaurants in all of Houston, especially if you like spicy food. I highly recommend the Twice Cooked Pork, Spicy Chicken, Ma Po Tofu, and the Boiled Sliced Fish.
